Fifth anniversary reflections

Just a quick blog post this month. It’s August, everyone’s on holiday (well, everyone except me that is!). The weather all over Europe is glorious ~ too much so in fact, we’re forecast a five day ‘canicule’ (heat wave) here in France. So, I’ll be staying cool indoors, proofreading some fascinating dissertations and theses ready for autumn submission. I still have a few slots available, so get in touch if you need help with any proofreading or editing project.

This month marks the fifth anniversary of my proofreading business here in France. I’ve enjoyed working for varied clients from all over the world and look forward to continuing to do so for many years to come. In the past five years, I’ve proofread writing on subjects ranging from microbiology to linguistics, plus lots of research in my own specialist subject, Law. I so enjoyed the pro bono writing and production of the Twilight biography Paws Before Bedtime that I’m busy working on several other non-fiction writing projects, too. Watch this space for details of a free ebook coming in the autumn.

Whatever you are doing this summer ~ be it busy writing up your research for a PhD submission or enjoying some time off study, do take time to relax and enjoy yourself. The key thing I have learned from five years of self-employment, plus many previous years working alone from home, is that self care is so important. Get out into nature, meet up with friends, volunteer or just sit in the park with a book. Your body and your mind will thank you, and you will return to your work refreshed.
